Jaw War

Open on YouTube ↗

In 2014, Jaw War began at the University of Ibadan and for 11 years, it has grown into something much larger than a debate competition.

Jaw War is more than arguments and rebuttals.
The rivalry, quality of thoughts and mammoth crowd.

This year, I had the privilege of delivering the keynote address at the Inter-Hall Rounds, where I spoke on culture and identity.

I shared that culture is capital, and identity is power. Every generation must renegotiate these truths, because the future belongs to those who know who they are.

We also reflected on how these ideas connect to governance. Governance begins with identity, and every leadership crisis is, at its root, an identity crisis. Policies, after all, are only mirrors of what we believe.

I closed with this thought: our identity is our sovereignty.
