The assignment

At the Nigeria Food Security Project, I lead research, policy and stakeholder engagement. I served as Head of Policy from December 2024 to November 2025 and became Executive Director in December 2025.

The operating context

Food-security decisions draw on information that is often fragmented across prices, production, logistics, nutrition and administrative boundaries. My work brings these strands into analytical frameworks while keeping the meaning and limitations of each indicator visible.

My contributions

  • Designed AgTrade, a high-frequency food-price monitoring model covering Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT.
  • Designed and led the Nigeria Food Security Index, a framework for assessing sub-national food-system performance.
  • Built the Food Security Index Tracker, bringing together commodity-price observations, NBS indicators and GIS layers.
  • Led GIS-based urban food-vulnerability mapping and produced state-level policy analyses and national policy briefs.
  • Constructed and analysed food-market panels using time-series and panel methods.

Areas of delivery

  • AgTrade monitoring model
  • Nigeria Food Security Index framework
  • Food Security Index Tracker
  • Spatial vulnerability analysis
  • Policy briefs and state-level assessments

Scope and professional contribution

These are monitoring and analytical contributions. Their policy value depends on source quality, clear indicator definitions and appropriate interpretation. A monitoring signal is not itself proof of a causal mechanism.
