Life is no brief candle for me. It is sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.

– George Bernard Shaw

First, it was that Saturday evening and then the morning. And the cycle continues. So it’s my birthday! (Inserts balloons) I am not the type who is usually hyped about birthdays but this hit differently.

Does running water stop when it reaches a rock? Absolutely not. It turns a different direction and continues its way. Personally, year 2020 has been meaningful in so many ways. Pointing the way to the future and evolving my perspective on issues. Not a single challenge will stand in the way of giving life to those lofty dreams. I am indeed grateful for the life in the years I have spent.

I’ve had some great birthdays but I think birthday thoughts actually change. And this particular one in isolation remains my favourite. Phew! Today, I am celebrating my birthday with people that matter to me. Those who stole portions of my heart. And I hope I never recover from the reflections.

Sydney Smith once said life is to be fortified by many friendships. To love and to be loved is the greatest happiness of existence. In this New Year, let’s do so much more together. Inspire hope for the future. And love fiercely. You can be sure that I’d be busy chasing butterflies and dipping cookies in milk all day long.

More importantly, I covet your prayers and gift items. Let me keep my handshake.
Thank You for standing by and staying safe!

Ajibola.
